- Connect with trusted people who have the ability to hold space for you.
- Connect with things that bring you joy or good energy, like listening to music, reading a good book, watching t.v
- Watch things that promote positive identities of black folks. Immerse yourself in black culture.
- Identify and communicate your needs and wants. Be your own advocate for those things. Do you need a break from work? Do you need peer support? Do you need therapy? Do you need to detach from the world of media?
- Allow yourself to feel your emotions and attend to your physical needs such as working out, taking long walks Spending some time getting rested, journaling.
- Create boundaries for what works for you and not others. Give yourself permission to say NO.
- Unplug from social media
- Pamper yourself, take yourself to the movies or out to dinner.
- Identify when you are being triggered and talk to someone about it.
- Meditate
