Suicide Prevention

If you or someone you care about are struggling with thoughts of suicide,

  1. Connect with trusted people who have the ability to hold space for you.
  2. Connect with things that bring you joy or good energy, like listening to music, reading a good book, watching t.v
  3. Watch things that promote positive identities of black folks. Immerse yourself in black culture.
  4. Identify and communicate your needs and wants. Be your own advocate for those things. Do you need a break from work? Do you need peer support? Do you need therapy? Do you need to detach from the world of media?
  5. Allow yourself to feel your emotions and attend to your physical needs such as working out, taking long walks Spending some time getting rested, journaling.
  6. Create boundaries for what works for you and not others. Give yourself permission to say NO.
  7. Unplug from social media
  8. Pamper yourself, take yourself to the movies or out to dinner.
  9. Identify when you are being triggered and talk to someone about it.
  10. Meditate
